Improvement!
I did my regular 5.6km loop this morning. It was annoying run. I was wearing some new shorts that I had never worn before. Unless you want to be constantly pulling at them this is an awful idea.
So I was surprised to find that I had bettered my time by a whole 10 seconds!

High Protein Chocolate Quinoa Cake
Yesterday was a day of experimentation in the kitchen. I was inspired by this recipe to make a dessert that was high in protein, but I wanted to kind of experiment with different starch bases; rather than just stick to wholemeal or oat flour all the time.
A quick look in the pantry to see what I had on hand, led me to really my only option: quinoa.
I was highly sceptical, but though, what the...

Weekly Workout Wrapup #2
Sunday
Much needed rest day. I slept in until the grand old time of 8am then spent the day grocery shopping and prepping the weeks meals. Chickpea burgers, mexican quinoa and lentil curry was made. In bed by 9pm and so ready for the week!
Monday
Very hilly 9.5km. Felt really, really good after it.
Tuesday
Hip hop class after work. I’m really glad dancing is back, I didn’t realise...

Surprising Myself
I set myself the goal this year of running a half marathon. That’s a huge deal for anyone I would imagine, but for me, it’s monumental.
A couple of year ago, my idea of exercise was walking the dog around the block; or my 30min-once-a-week dance class. If you would have told me then that I would be training for a half marathon I would have laughed in your face, told you you were crazy...

Weekly Workout Wrapup
Sunday:
Was still recovering from my awful run the day before. Did 30min yoga in the morning and was content to give myself a run-free day. However 6pm rolled around and I somehow found myself running. I covered a very hilly 6.5km, however the run was still a huge battle. The difference is I actually pushed myself to get this one done instead of giving up. This had me feeling marginally better.

What I Ate Wednesday.
I’ve seen this floating around health blogs before so I figured I’d bring it over to tumblr.
Wednesday started with blueberry overnight oats.
Blueberry chobani, 1/4 cup oats, 1/2 banana
After 30 minutes of at home vinyasa yoga I packed up the rest of the days food:

Things I love about Australia Day.
Reflecting on yesterday I realised there are a few things that make Australia Day just that little bit more awesome.
1. Triple J’s Hottest 100. Overall, I loved the countdown; no surprises that Goyte got number 1 but bit disappointed that this song didn’t make the list. Or more importantly this one.
2. Aussie Open. Yea, I’m that person at the Australia Day party who is glued to...

Trying New things.
Today has been the day for trying new things.
First thing I tried? Egg whites in my oatmeal.
Sounds gross I know, but lately I don’t think I’ve been getting enough protein in my breakfasts and I’ve been noticing I’ve been getting hungry only 2 hours after eating. Adding 1/4 cup egg whites adds 7.4 grams of protein and so much creaminess! The PB2 and cinnamon I added...

Raise your hand if you skipped your run today...
meeeeeee I did!
and I don’t even regret it. Heres why:
Numero 1: I spent my day at the Healthy Chef Cafe and enjoyed organic poached eggs, an acai/guarana energy smoothie and half a flourless vegan orange cafe. foodgasms everywhere.
Numero 2: Sunday’s my scheduled rest day anyway, this was going to be an extra one in case I can’t go whilst camping
Numero 3: I’m going to...

Saturday.
This morning I woke up to a delicious pre-run bowl of oatmeal.
1/4 cup of oats, 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 banana, 1tbsp PB2, 1tsp agave
Get in mah belleh!
Lately I’ve been trying to cut down on my dairy consumption as I’m a bit of a yoghurt addict and so subbed my usual oats + yoghurt for some PB2 - and ohhhh was it worth it.
Then came my last day of my first week...

Goals of 2012.
In no particular order.
1. Keep my room tidy. It may seem trivial, but let me tell you my room is always messy. Really, its quite ridiculous how messy it is. So once a week, I’m going to clean my room. Actually, lets give it a day, easier to not put it off then - lets say Saturdays. I vow, every Saturday I shall tidy my room. Thank god its Sunday
2. Stop procrastinating. I am a serial...

2011.
Ok so I figured I’d do a little post looking back on 2011 (better late than never right?) why it sucked, and why it was awesome.
I started the year in a really bad place. My eating disorder was at its peak and I had gained enough weight to almost put me back at my starting weight. I remember going to bed on new years day and thinking ‘thats it kacie, no more eating’ - my new...

Quinoa Salad + Pomegranate Dressing
http://www.teresacutter.com/2011/12/quinoa-salad-pomegranate-dressing/
This is a delicious healthy summer salad that I designed for the new menu at the healthy chef. I wanted something that was vegetarian friendly and loved the idea of making a tabouli style salad using a little quinoa and lots of fresh parsley, mint and spinach. Technically quinoa is not a grain but a relative of green...

The Balancing Act: Flourless 65-Calorie Chocolate... →
the-balancing-act:
I made these muffins after making a few variations to this recipe, namely getting rid of the butter and subbing half the eggs for egg whites.
Ok, many of you are going to read what’s in these muffins and run away screaming, but I’m telling you… do not judge before you taste! These chocolate muffins look and taste like real chocolate muffins at only a fraction of the...

Got my brother doing insanity.
which is awesome for two reasons:
1. its gonna whip his butt into shape
2. it stops me being lazy if he’s done it and I haven’t. I can’t have my little brother beating me at my own game.
I’m a very competitive person

Spotlight Sunday: Pyramid Pushups
… I know its Monday here but it’s still Sunday somewhere in the world. Still counts, right?
Introducing…… PYRAMID PUSHUPS
How it works: Basically you start at 1: do one pushup, hold for 5 seconds in high plank. Then 2 pushups and 5 seconds in high plank, then 3 etc. Then once you reach 10 you go backwards, 10 then 9 then 8 and so on with with seconds in high plank...

Well I feel like crap
I think I ate something yesterday that has really disagreed with me because since then I’ve had stomach pains and been super bloated. Hopefully it all goes away by tomorrow so I can ruuunnnnn :)
In case you didn’t figure it out, this post was extremely irrelevant and used only as a procrastination tool to avoid cleaning my room.
In other news, Shaun T kicked my BUTT today.
